Civil engineering is considered as the pioneer in the engineering field. Civil engineers is one form or another have been around since human started building major public works like roads,bridge,monuments,buinding,apartments,tunnels and large public building.The discipline includes the planning,design,construction,maintainance and operation of the infrastructures that surrounds us and are the underpinning of our society. Civil engineering branches into environmental engineering,geotechnolagical engineering,structural engineerig,transportation engineering,water resource engineering,coastal engineering,materials engineering,surveying engineering,construction engineering among them.The planning,design,construction,operation and maintenance of variety of structures and facilities such as water tap,road,skycrapers,hydropower,railways and harbors fall under this. All engineering requires civil works which is the job of civil engineers.To produce safe,easy,sound econamical infrastructure,eco-friendly is the major reponsibility of civil engineers.
